Do me a favor.

OK I'm going to ask everyone to not bring up the political aspect of the Ren and Stimpy show from now on. I made the mistake of voicing my opinion. If I want to know what John thinks about things I will check out his blog. I'm really happy to discuss the art of cartooning and all that goes along with that.
Thanks.

well gosh bob theres nothing wrong with voicing your opinion and I heard on the ren and stimpy dvd what johnk said that you can draw one of funniest drawings he also said he felt sorry that bob had to with the other artist who couldnt draw as good as you so it sounds like he really admires you

Bob Camp said...

Thanks Iron.
That's nice that he admires me but I honestly couldn't care less.

"he felt sorry that bob had to with the other artist who couldn.t draw as good as you"

Think about what he's saying there.

I don't care whether an artist draws as good as me or not. I'd rather hang out with young people learning how to draw. The love of their craft is wonderful to behold. I wish I hadn't had that pure joy beaten out of me.

I don't want John's admiration.

No cookies from the king, thank you.

Can we still ask you about the artistic aspects of Ren and Stimpy? Like how you come up with ideas etc ?
Also don't let any experiences from the past get you down,I would like to see another Bob Camp cartoon on tv or in the movie theatres one day.

Hey man, I think it's a shame, you won't talk about Ren and Stimpy, cause, after JOhn K was out of the whole thing, There's not much information to get...

I was watching City Hikes last night, and man, that cartoon is so clear in it's finished animation, in poses, as well in clean up, colouring and so on:) As I recall, you directed that one...

Awesome stuff

Hey, I know you've been through your share of shit, but i can honestly say that when i see your recent drawings i still see the same type of FUN vitality and life that was present in your earlier stuff that you've posted. So from an outsiders perspective i still see a joy for cartooning and that is not only inspiring, but encouraging for any artist who struggles or goes through ruts.

keep on trucking and keep up the awesome work!

Let's all get back to some positive cartooning!

Bob, you're obviously one of the few people on earth who the phrase "draws better than anyone else" applies to, so the fact that you enjoy the company of all cartoonists says what a fine, upstanding person you are. You have the rare gift so many of us wish we had - to actually make people laugh at not just the gag, but just the drawing. Just take comfort in those facts.

In college, I was astounded that students had the moxie to ask studio professionals about the "boners" in The Little Mermaid, if WB and Disney had a feud and if so which side were they on, and other such superfluous things. Then people graduate, and you find that the kinda people asking those questions were the fan boys of the class, and weren't usually employed doing art jobs.

Please keep sharing the goodness you so often share and keep the focus on that. I really admire that you've been able to sidestep silly questions about gossip, but unfortunately I doubt it'll ever completely cease. New viewers to your blog will probably sling more poop, but just keep doing what you've been doing: inspiring, educating, and hopefully having fun!

I really appreciate you putting yourself out there, Bob! The cartoon community is better for it!

I've recently stumbled onto both yourself and John K. I've watched R&S before but I've never appreciated until recently, always assuming that the style of cartooning would remain (not the case). I'm not sure what's happened, but seemingly you both rock the shit out of cartoons, and I'd wish a collab happened with you two because what the industry has now is a bunch of crap. I religiously follow both of your blogs and keep my fingers crossed.

Certainly understandable. I'd hate to keep reliving ugly days myself, too. However, I hope we can ask questions about R&S that didn't pertain to... that unfortunate business.

Which leads me to a question, which bumpers/commercials did you direct for Ren & Stimpy? Did you happen to do Chicken in a Drawer? Because that ad had some great squash and stretch animation and was quite funny as well.

[BTW: I've been browsing your blog for a couple months now. Excellent cartoony drawings. Just wanted to say that]

Speedy - yes, Bob did direct the hilarious Chicken in a Drawer.

Hey Bob.

Just letting you know that there are people who respect you, because you're one of few within reach of a fanbase that not only philosophizes that "cartoons can and should be fun", but practices it too.

As much as John seems to believe in the same, it's cancelled out by his poisonous indoctrination.

Brubaker said...

Just want to say I respect you and I enjoyed your work from (almost) everywhere you went, from that certain show to "Cow & Chicken" to "Space Goofs" and even that "Lucky Lydia" pilot you did few years ago (and there's probably something else I didn't list).

Here's to whatever exciting projects you will be doing in the future.

Hey all,
Thanks for all the VERY kind thoughts and comments. I wish I could address each of your notes individually but I'm in deadline hell and need to get back to work.
Thanks again!

Fuck the politics, all I care about is the work. :O)

Ricardo Cantoral said...

Um, Okay maybe it's an interesting topic but I won't bring it up if you won't Bob.

I dont get the weirdos that keep the rumor mill churning.

I enjoy your work and your though process behind it. I can do without the politics as well.

Cheers

What brought all of this on? Apparently I missed something. I'm interested in the work done here, not the politics of a cartoon studio. I leave that to animation history books. Thank you Mr. Camp for posting such great work on both of your blogs.

Ricardo Cantoral said...

Oh yes Bob just remember, sing the Jimminy Lummox song if you want all the politics to go away ! XD

Hiya Bob,

Growing up with these cartoons, all I knew (and STILL know to this day) is that I have a damn good time watching them. So whatever happens between the creative forces of these cartoons, that's your own business. But I do reserve the right to have heroes to look up to, and you sir, are one of them. Congrats on all your success, doing what you enjoy doing. That's what it's all about. Take care!

Well, it sure didn't show.

At the risk of beating a dead Mr. Horse, I've had many people who worked with John tell me that his obsession with construction was overbearing and made them not want to do the best work anymore because he took the fun out of it for them.

I have to say, that although that might be tough, the truth is that you'd never know it from the work. Watching that show as a pimply fourteen year old, I imagined an environment like Termite Terrace and assumed it was just a lot of great artists drawing really wacky drawings super fast.

If it hasn't been said enough for you, let me say it again: thank you for all the great work you did on Ren and Stimpy... you made many kids very happy and maybe a little less cynical.

Dear Mr. Camp,

the problem is, you have already been misused sucessfully by some people here as a bait to stir up a shit storm.

They have even created a whole blog dedicated to the sole purpose of stirring up a shit storm between former colleagues of the Ren and Stimpy show, and have started to speak on your behalf in other forums, using your quotes posted here, and posting vague, out of context, quotes from the other side to fuel the hate.

Most people here come to your blogs to be inspired by the love and dedication to the art of cartooning you guys, despite the huge personal differences, all have in common. Unlike some idiots posting here, we don't care about the politics.

Looking forward to see more great artwork from you.

Bob Camp said...

Wow, thanks for all the nice thoughts again everybody. Hey I'm just a cartoonist like you guys and I want to have fun with it, that's all.
Love and peace m'friends!

Yeah, you ruined Ren and Stimpy forever, you motherfucking faggot-- Go burn in hell, cocksucker.

Anonymous said...

Previous anonymous, you're at the wrong blog. Bob had nothing to do with the Adult Party Cartoon.

Hoot Gibson said...

Bullshit, Bob. Cartooning = anarchy or else it's no fun. Don't get pushed around and don't be afraid to tell it like it is. You got fucked with the whole R&S thing and they made you out to be the criminal when all you wanted to do was save the show.

The next person who comes down on you....tell 'em to SUCK IT and draw a picture of their mother orally pleasing the fifth infantry!

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRR!!!!!
